Richard Whaling is a frequent conference speaker, seen at StrangeLoop, GOTO, Scala Days, and other conferences, speaking on topics including Scala, distributed systems, NLP, etc. In graduate school, he once taught ancient Greek syntax and morphology to a Markov Chain. At M1, he leads the Data Engineering and ML Engineering teams, overseeing work on LLM’s, AI safety, data pipelines and warehousing, decisioning platforms, and old-school batch job orchestration.
On the weekends, he also makes generative music and esoteric roguelike games, some of which you can play on his blog.
