The AWS Chicago user group website had been victim of the proverb “the cobbler’s children have no shoes.” Why spend time on websites when I could be organizing events? AWS Amplify saves me development time and overhead. WordPress on Lightsail or EC2 was overkill but a no-code WYSIWYG builder like SquareSpace was not enough. I had custom CSS and HTML already hosted in GitHub. I followed blog posts to host a static S3 site but got hung up on custom domains and Route 53 networking. This talk will be both an overview and a quick guide to migrating static sites to AWS Amplify.
