Jennifer started her career in international training and management consulting in Washington, D.C. Now she teaches people to make movies at The Second City and Columbia College Chicago, which involves getting groups of complete strangers working together to make art.

She also writes CaptainAwkward.com, an advice blog for her fellow late bloomers covering family, friendship, mental health, dating, awkward workplace situations, and more. The fan-supported site has resulted in an avid community around the world, a spinoff online community run by readers, and a daily readership of 25,000-30,000 people. It's been linked and/or featured at the L.A. Times, BBC News, Salon.com, Slate, Fast Company, Jezebel, The Hairpin, CNN.com, The Toast. She has written for IndieWire and Buzzfeed, as well as The Archipelago and Story Club Magazine, and is a frequent speaker and performer at live events in Chicago.
